Thanks, that is helpful.
I send a picture to the guy who gave it to me and see if it jogs his memories. This is the only noid in my collection, but I think I'll keep it no matter what.

NoID mini Dendrobium

I was given this little Dendrobium a couple years ago and thought it might be a species because of the size, but now it's bloomed and I'm clueless. It seems a lot like nobile including the fragrance....

The first is a Paphiopedilum hybrid (looks kind of like Paph. Clarissa) and the second a Cattleya, but I've not seen one quite like that.

Either way they're both very nice plants and for less than...

Sorry to hear you've hit snags. The test shots look good though. I don't even notice the fish-eye in the second one.

Stop-motion and Time-lapse as far as I know mean the same thing. At first I...

Sounds like you're ready to go! I don't have much experience with time lapse plants, but I do with other stop motion video. You're using a GoPro. Do they have a stop-motion feature? How cool.

I'd...

I think they're a bit too small to identify properly, but I'd guess the first might be some kind of bean-leaf dendrobium. It looks like the leaves are more fleshy, but if they're not, I've got no...

Very cool flower. IOSPE calls it the "hobgoblin masdevalia". I would have loved to be part of the conversation naming this one.

Thanks for the tip. I will try to repot it once the flower falls off. There is a big selection of glass jars in the craft store here. I think the black spots on the leaves were mostly heat damage....

Masdevallia Aquarious

This guy has been trying to flower since June. 6 buds didn't make it, but it kept trying and finally success.

I tried to make a stop motion video of the second bud, but the camera kept getting...

Yes, plant picture might help. Those peloric petals are crazy! I'd guess it's got some Dendrobium phalaenopsis in there, but it's likely a hybrid.

What an interesting problem to have!

I would try lightly fertilizing. Use one with a higher nitrogen content (first number X-y-z). You can also add some superthrive or other growth hormone additive. Both of those should motivate it to...

I agree on the ceologyne, but I don't think that's a picta. It should have red spots on the back of the petals and sepals, no? I would guess it's more likely a Maxillaria porphyrostele.
