I agree on the ceologyne, but I don't think that's a picta. It should have red spots on the back of the petals and sepals, no? I would guess it's more likely a Maxillaria porphyrostele.

Yes, Maxillaria picta does have red spotting on the sepals and petals.

I thought I saw a few on the pics that Dave provided, but I looked again, and didn't see any. Maxillaria picta does have variability in the amount of red spots there are on the flowers, so I thought it may have been Max picta.

I'll look at photos of my Max picta and confirm whether it is a Max picta or a Max porphyrostele.

Will repost later.

@ "awest" - Yes, you are correct. It is Max porphyrostele.

The callus on the lip of Max porphyrostele is far more pronounced compared to that of Max picta.

So, not only is there the red spotting, you can tell the difference by the callus.

I'm also comparing pics of my Max picta to Dave's photo, and it appears that Max picta is a larger plant than the one in Dave's photo.

I agree! Especially if there are more Maxillarias. They are the only ones I'm good at identifying. Now I just have to get mine to bloom and I'll be like ().

The size of leaves still strike me as strangely small. They unnerve me a bit.
