Possible ID? Phal.(Brother Pirate King X Sand Pebbles) - Orchid Board

I think I may of possibly found an ID for one of my NOID's that I purchased from an orchid nursery a few weeks ago. I've had so many blooms open over the last two weeks with it and it just keeps getting more beautiful.

Without the tag to prove its lineage, there's no way you will ever know for sure what this orchid is. I have an orchid that looks very similar to a phal hybrid I found online, but since it's not tagged, I will never be able to take it to an orchid show and advertise it as being that hybrid. I can only call it a "NOID Phalaenopsis" because there are so many hybrids out there and a lot of them look very similar.

Yeah thats fine with me. I dont have a problem with it being a noid, it was just fun poking around and finding something that looked very similar to what I have.

Well it certainly could be. Odd, I couldn't find pictures of either parent though. The cross must be more popular and there by more likely the plant that you have. Only difference I can see is the heavier spotting that seams to be lacking on your bottom sepals, but it's not consistent so who knows. Pretty!

Yeah a lot of big box stores and large sellers (that smaller nurseries buy from) Have their own special crosses that become noids and they are so beautiful to boot!

Oh wow… thanks for pointing that out kindra. I didn't see that the first time I looked at the pics. That is going to be so gorgeous when it fills out! Please do post pics again when the buds on those lower branches open!

Even if it is a NOID, enjoy it. I'm sorry if my earlier post sounds snobby, I'm really not snobby at all. Half of my collection are noid phals. I bought them because I loved the color of the flowers, or the way it branched when it bloomed, not because I cared if it had a tag.

Quite honestly my favorite phal is a noid from home depot. Lol! Im also a sucker for spots (which usually occurs in hybrids lol!!)

Mine is a noid mini harlequin phal I got from the grocery store a couple of months ago. The darned thing is still opening flowers and the blooms just seem to keep going strong.

It is beautiful either way! And with a branching spike, it will be stunning in full bloom.
