Default My new terrarium!

I've done a few smallish glass bowls and figured I was ready for a terrarium measured in feet instead of inches. Just a teeny step up - this is 2' X 1', approx, aquarium I got on sale for $13 from Pet Supplies, with the addition of custom cut glass for $8 for the top. I left 1/2" open on the top for air, but may need a small fan. Do you like? Here's what's in it:

Catt NoID (mounted on cork)
Den Palolo Sunshine Ito
Paph philippinense
Phal stuartiana
Phal stuartiana
Pot Love Call 'Nora' (mounted on porous rock)
Vanilla planifolia

Blackvine- that looks awesome! And I agree you would prob need a fan. I bet all the shag keeps it very humid and looks great. I don't see the stuartiana's though

Thank, LovePhals and Erica Marie! LovePhals, they are lower light than the rest, so they are hiding behind the cork! You can see one behind the vanilla with the little giraffe in the pot in the first pic.

Nice, I hope all the plants like it. That Vanilla's going to go crazy, but I suppose you could use it as an excuse to keep upgrading!

Thanks, all! Well, guess what? I dismantled to take out all the moss. I'll put everything back, but with more rocks and less moss - and a different KIND of moss. This is not sheet moss, but a Northwestern US type that comes in a bag like sheet moss, but in clumps. It was the only moss I had on hand so I thought I'd give it a go. The truth is I don't like that moss, but honestly cannot tell you exactly WHY! It's weird - I put it in another terrarium a few months ago and ended up taking it out after about 3 weeks. Couldn't figure out why I hated it, so I gave it another try in this one. Hated it again. Upon thinking, I have two reasons: It grows more fibrously rather than velvety and the color is icky. To me. Strange little revulsions we have! Anyway, I'm redoing it!

[FOTN="Palatino Linotype"]It looks nice, but make sure you keep it well ventilated, especially since the plants are potted. Make sure not to overwater either, it becomes much easier to overwater a pot inside a terrarium.
I like your mini pet Giraffe. Is that a Giraffa lilly-putana or Giraffa pumilia? Lol.[/FONT]
