Thank you both. I did use Ray’s kelp to soak the plant for 4 hours. I’m afraid it didn’t look much better. Here are some updated photos. I can of course soak longer and welcome further instructions.

It's great that it ended on a phal note. My shifts that end that way end up with me stopping at a nursery or grocery stores and buying a phal. Can't wait to see pics of it once you get it home.

I normally love to purchase the phals from Lowe's as they keep them indoors until they go on clearance and then they move them to full sun. If you don't get them the first day there is nothing left....

Yikes! I am afraid of spider mites and I hate mealy bugs. I have dealt with mealy bugs twice. So far no mites. Good luck eradicating them.

Yes I want to know too. I have heard of adding honey to the water for struggling vandas and glucose for struggling phals so I am guessing the sugar may be a little pick me up for phals?

I agree that at least for me in Louisiana Brassavola no dosas has been a great grower. I have also only lost one paphiopedilum despite losing a bunch of phals. I find paphs much easier for beginners...
