Everyone's direction was to pot! So potted the phal in a 6 inch pot with slits...

I agree with Camille. I bought a Phal equestris var. alba last March and now it's growing new roots+leaf and a spike! They're crazy little guys that packs a punch.

Concerning the mold growing on your phal, I've used Physan 20 on my phal that had root rot and it cleared away the fungus/mold.

I'm sure there are other remedies that are better/safer/cheaper...

I soaked the bark mix for 48 hours. From my experience of potting 3 Phals so far, I think <24 hours is way too short for the barks to open its pores...
