I've had a couple of Phals and a few other orchids for a few years, though I have admired them for many more years. I avoided purchasing them until about 7 years ago because I was sure I couldn't possibly keep them alive in Oklahoma. Then I got a garden window-box in my kitchen and thought I'd try. Mmmm . . . not so successfully.
Finally, I have hope--I've found this forum, which is obviously rich with orchidists willing to share their experience! Now my thought is to combine two of my favorite hobbies--orchids & herps--in a vivarium with Phelsumas. Am I nuts?
I have to do
something to save my unhappy orchids. The last phal is doing well, as is another orchid that I need to find the name for and a Ludisia discolor; however, another is barely hanging on. So soon I will be picking your brains trying to learn as much as I can so that I can really
enjoy my orchids rather than being constantly frustrated!
