This new growth started on one of the spikes on a phal of mine. At first I thought it was a new branch growing off of it, but it started a bud immediately. Now it looks almost like it has leaves...

Thanks for all the input! I think I'm going to keep my cym in a pot outdoors. That way I can move it if necessary. I may try dividing it in the future, but I think I'll keep it as it is for now.

It definitely looks like pollen sacs. I just repotted them, and another cap came off of another one of the blooms! :( This particular plant must have loosely attached pollen caps.

Ahh. I did notice a little white cap in the pot...that must be what it was. Oh well - there are still a few more buds ready to bloom, so it will still look nice for a while!

It is a special paph mix that I purchased from an orchid supplier. It seems to have a lot more dirt in it than my phal medium, but it also has a lot of small pebbles in it.
