Your plant looks like an epiphytic cactus to me. The roots don't appear to have the characteristic spongy coating (velamen) that most epiphytic orchid roots are equipped with. Hope you figure it out.

Looked at my seed through a 10x microscope. They have an opaque skin arround a darker center much like those in the photo above. Guess I'll have to give 'em a whirl.

Anyone know what healthy, viable Phal. seed looks like? I recently havested some from a split pod. It is medium brown in color but looks fine otherwise. Wondering if its supposed to be more light...
