Hello fellow growers
Default Hello fellow growers

I'm a windowsill grower in West Texas. I grow mostly Cattleya spp. but also anything-I-can-get-my-hands-on. I will soon try my hand at flasking for the first time. Just havested some seed (Phal. Pink Twilight X Dtnps. Sogo Vivien) but it has a bron color. What do viable Phal. seeds look like? Guess I don't have to keep asking myself that question...Now I can ask ya'll.

Hi and welcome to Orchidboard

I can't help you with flasking or seed questions because I haven't gotten up the nerve to try that yet but still wanted to give you a warm OB welcome

We'd love to see some and I'm sure our other members will be able to answer the questions you asked

Welcome to the OB!

Glad you decided to join us!!!
I am sorry but I can not answer your question either at this time.
Maybe one day I will venture over to flasking and such!
But for now, I am sticking to trying to keep my 'chids alive, grow and bloom!
There are plenty of experts here at the OB that will probably chime in, but if you don't find an answer here, try posting a new thread in the advanced discussion. I am sure many more people will see your question there and more likely topost comments
Goodluck with that and I would love to see of it!

Welcome to the Orchid Board. What molecule is that? It looks familiar from my Organic Chem days.

Hello,
I am in Texas and have an orchid store where I have orchids for sale, lease and rent for a day.
In each seed pod there are thousands.
It takes 5 to 8 years for an orchid to flower from seed.
I usually do not like to wait that long.
What kind of supplemental lights do you use? I recommend something with a red-blue spectrum in it for flowering. You phals and paphs are low light so they will grow in your windows. Everyone is just as easy, they just need to be outside, either under trees or somewhere in a filtered light. Here in Texas orchids can have fun sun till 11am and full sun after 3pm. They need to be in a filtered light between 11am and 3pm. They will sunburn when we will sunburn.
Send me a picture of how your orchids are in the windows.

Happy Growing!
Lee
