My growing Neo collection

I can't boast 40 or 100 or more Neos, as several folks here can, but with 11 as of today it's beginning to feel like a real collection. Time for a pictorial roundup, starting with a group shot of the whole kit and kaboodle. :photo::)

Front row (left to right): Fugaku, Hsui, Byakko, Kirinmaru, Maizuru
Second row: Kinkousei, Seiriyujishi, Kasen
Back row: Karanishiki, Suruga-fukurin, Shutennou

And my newest, and thus far priciest acquisition, Maizuru. This was sold as a single growth plant, but it has 4 babies emerging.

Orchid Digest vol. 70-2 featured a cover photo of a huge specimen Maizuru. This is reputed to be a slow grower, so it will probably take several decades for mine to approach that size. A great incentive for me to try to live long. :)

Per the note in OD: "Neofinetia falcata 'Maizuru' is a priceless specimen of the species, likely without peer in the world. The owner, Mr. Hiroshi Isozaki, is a member of the All Japan Fuukuran Society. Jason Fischer photgraphed this plant."

Also worth noting that the back issue was still available as of a few weeks ago when I got my copy. The Neofinetia article by Jason Fischer is a great read. To inquire about obtaining it, write to membership@orchiddigest.org

Your collection is already bigger than mine! wish I had the cash to buy more!

Awesome, Jay. Great collection you have there. Great photography, too.

Thanks for the tip on the OD issue.

P.S. NWO, OL, and SE thank you for the plants now added to my wishlist.

Nice collection.

You still need a red-leaf and a variegated bean-leaf

You have a good eye for picking plants! Those are beautiful individuals.

Really, really nice collection I agree with Jeremiah you do have a good eye. You guys have got me making Neo pots (Pilot) & buying more of them. Plus, trolling our favorite sites constantly. Life is good :)

Great start! And a very nice investment you've made out of that Maizuru. I'm currently waiting for that OD issue in the mail!

Thanks all for the kind comments. My eye for fukiran is only as good as the enablers, er uh... collaborators here who have guided me so well. :bowing

My eye is only as good as my wallet
