Default My growing Neo collection

I can't boast 40 or 100 or more Neos, as several folks here can, but with 11 as of today it's beginning to feel like a real collection. Time for a pictorial roundup, starting with a group shot of the whole kit and kaboodle.

Front row (left to right): Fugaku, Hsui, Byakko, Kirinmaru, Maizuru
Second row: Kinkousei, Seiriyujishi, Kasen
Back row: Karanishiki, Suruga-fukurin, Shutennou

And my newest, and thus far priciest acquisition, Maizuru. This was sold as a single growth plant, but it has 4 babies emerging.

Orchid Digest vol. 70-2 featured a cover photo of a huge specimen Maizuru. This is reputed to be a slow grower, so it will probably take several decades for mine to approach that size. A great incentive for me to try to live long.

Per the note in OD: "Neofinetia falcata 'Maizuru' is a priceless specimen of the species, likely without peer in the world. The owner, Mr. Hiroshi Isozaki, is a member of the All Japan Fuukuran Society. Jason Fischer photgraphed this plant."

Also worth noting that the back issue was still available as of a few weeks ago when I got my copy. The Neofinetia article by Jason Fischer is a great read. To inquire about obtaining it, write to membership@orchiddigest.org

Awesome, Jay. Great collection you have there. Great photography, too.

Thanks for the tip on the OD issue.

P.S. NWO, OL, and SE thank you for the plants now added to my wishlist.

Nice collection.

You still need a red-leaf and a variegated bean-leaf

Great start! And a very nice investment you've made out of that Maizuru. I'm currently waiting for that OD issue in the mail!
