Slightly variegated bean leaf variety (most noticeable on lower right leaf).

From Seed Engei online catalog description: "Variegated KAIOUMARU (large bean leaf variety came out of Amami-furan) and have MIMIZURI stripe(few stripe on the edge) on their thick leaves. Found in Aichi prefecture about 10 years ago. Original had been grown in Mie prefecture and propagated in decade. There is no seedling. Price and popularity is still high."

Drool... I especially like the kokyu. What a lovely collection of newbies!

OMG! Beautiful plants Jayfar. I like them all. I tried getting the Fugaku - Hou from April list but even the $100 listed one was already sold--not a Hou in sight!

These are beautiful little plants. I have never seen them for sale here. I would love to get a hybrid with colour, since I am not fond of white. Some day I will do a serious search for one, perhaps a blue Dawinara or a Neostylis.

Thanks! They have a few Kokyu listed in their online catalog. Mr. Kasahara discounted mine because he said the smaller of the 2 growths wasn't up to par.

came out from seedling of Amami furan. This variety became very popular because the variegation looks similar to Kinbotan. New leaves grow with ghost leaf (all yellow) and produce green color later. The leaf loose their variegation as it gets old. So you will see all yellow leaf on top, tiger stripe (yellow on green base) in the middle and solid green leaves at bottom. Beatiful coloration! Plant gets bigger because of the gene of amami furan. Some says this variety is large type of Kinbotan. Very desirable. The ruby roots add the value to it too.

[leaves]

Produce beautiful white tiger stripe called Amanogawa-type variegation (beautiful snow-white tiger stripe plus center transparent).

[stem /roots /tsuke]

mud brown stem, produce ruby roots in spring when roots is growing, crescent moon tsuke

In Canada Neos are available from Terry Kowalczuk's Flora-Peculia. You'd need to email him for a list though, as he only has a small list of his pricier Connoisseur Collection currently on the website.

Just wanted to add, Neofineyia Falcata 'Hisui' is so named for the jade green flowers it produces! I like white flowers, but have wanted a green flowering plant for some time, and I wanted to try a neo, so this fit the bill for me. If you happen to come across one like I did, it might be a good fit because the flowers are not just white.

Here's a pic I found on the Internet so you can see what the flowers look like.

That is quite pretty. I like bright colours mostly, which is why a hybrid might be more for me. I love that these little guys take so little space and are fragrant though.

Thanks. They sure are pricey for such little things! The Chinese cymbidium are pretty too. I just may email him when I want a birthday present for myself.

Ah! You'd probably like Neostylis Pinky then. :)

Catalog-Connoisseur

Yes, the connoisseur selection prices are at least an order of magnitude higher than most of the Fukiran I typically buy. I know Terry sells plants for much less from his regular list.

That's good to know. Theses are such popular little orchids that it makes me want to find out why. I once had a Darwinara blue star years ago, but I somehow killed it before it came into bloom. I have never seen another one, and no one has neofinetias or any other vanda related orchid at the shows here. I will contact this person to see what is available.
