Psychopsis in passive hydroculture
Has anyone tried a psychopsis in passive hydro? I am gathering a collection of these and would like to transfer them to passive hydro. Any help greatly appreciated.

Yep. They seem to do quite well for most folks.
I have never heard a "nope" from anyone who tried. |
Thank you Ray, now to get up the courage to actually do it! I lost a prize one to over-watering and I think I'm being to careful with the ones I have. Since they don't come 'cheap', I'm a little gun shy.

I am growing two of them like that. One has been in S/H for about a year and needed repotting. I just placed the whole contents of that pot into a larger one and it is growing new roots already. I placed another one in S/H about a month ago and it seems to be doing well. I'm thinking of putting a large one into it also. I'm afraid of overwatering it in the medium it is in now. With clear pot I can see just what the roots are doing.
Good luck if you try it. Marilyn |
same for me, I have two hybrids in S/H since at least one year each, and both are growing very well... I currently have a papilio alba, which will jump into S/H soon too ;)
What I do however, is I wait until the reservoir is empty (but the LECA is not yet dry) to water again... |
What's the difference between passive hydro and semi hydro?
|
Thank you Marilyn and Ramon, I'm waiting for LECA right now and will make the change over as soon as it arrives.
Ramon...........I have a seedling papilio alba, and the Psy. papilio too, in bloom now with two spikes. I think they are great plants but I do have to watch my watering and *think* before I pour. Al |

Never heard of passive hydro. What is it? :scratchhead:
|
As I have been told, the phrase "semi-hydro" is owned just as the word "orchidarium". Therefore, passive hydroponics is used. They are one in the same. Just "legal" to use passive hydro...
