1 leaf wonder, can it survive...
3 Attachment(s)
I got this Orchid from a worker where I work, she had it on her desk, she assumed it was dead and was going to toss it, so she gave it to me, the 1 remaining leaf appears in good shape, this also is what is left of the good roots, it had a spike with buds, bud only 1 bud is still alive, I did cut the spike off, does it look like it can make it?
|
I've re-grown a mounted phal from just the roots so yep it can survive. The leaves were snapped off from an inconsiderate worker, the plant was small but healthy otherwise.
I would repot as well. |
seems like you did everything right. now repot it in bark instead of sphag... sphag is too wet and that's probably why it nearly died. if the crown is not soft, it should definitely survive.

You may want to use some rooting hormone as well.

sphagnum, bark or both mixed...doesn't matter what it's potted in as long as you adjust the watering, accordingly. That plant doesn't look bad. I lost all but one leaf on a Baldan's Kaleidoscope last summer...3 more leafs later and a spike growing now. It's in sphagnum.
AHAB, how did you get your plant to grow after losing all the leafs? Any special care? |
I didn't know it would, it is mounted on bamboo.
I just watered and fertilized it with the rest and it just slowly put out new leaves. No special care. Maybe watered it a bit more since it is mounted, it has a small spike on it now. I'll let it bloom then cut off the spike after it opens up. I use MSU South Florida Formula at every watering, flush everything down before I water. I have a hydrofogger that puts out a fine mist and reall helps with humidity year round. |
