Just weak ones... or if it is an awarded plant that I'm not going to pollinate this time.
Sometimes with divisions, if the plant is too small then it is better to take the pollen and let the plant get more growths and get stronger so it can hold the pod without tapping it out and either weakening it or even killing it. I'll take the pollen, store it and cut the stem and display the flower in the house. Then the next year or so it should have enough growths to support the pod. Hope this helps! Jim T |

move on
I hate to be the bearer of bad new's, but it's time to call it dude. Resist trying to save every rescue that comes your way! Learn to grow healthy blooming orchid's, many orchid's that have gone so far down hill most likely will never fully revive. It is much more rewarding , less depressing, more fun, and enjoyable to grow a healthy plant and not a rescue. Your growing area will take on the persona of it's plant majority, keep it a positive one! Good luck, carry on...Only with the best of intentions...Kitty:goodluck:

:wavingJeffery, we all do that in the beginning , [it still has some green, or there is a pitiful new twisted growth coming or maybe a flower or kaiki} It's all in the roots brother! often times a dieing plant will speed up growth production or try to flower in one last effort to get pollenated before it die's,lesson learned...carry on

There are plenty of us that have saved a rootless phal. Try using some SuperThrive or K-L-N for root growth. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
