Spathoglottis in bloom
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...54f09e7_4k.jpgOther flowers by J Solo, on Flickr
i was told these were Chinese Hardy Orchids but i have been better informed now....enjoy fun plant that grows here with ZERO help from me |
Not Bletilla striata. (Flower shape different though leaves look similar, and I think B. striata is a spring/summer bloomer) Maybe Spathoglottis? Whatever it is, love those terrestrial Floridian volunteers!

striata means "striated," referring to the leaves, which are ribbed. it just happens that the Bletilla striata leaves look very similar to the Spathoglottis leaves. :)
don't worry, Spathoglottis, like Bletilla, is a terrestrial genus and will do wonderfully outdoors in Florida. your particular Spathoglottis resembles a Spathoglottis plicata. |
