Can anyone identify this orchid? Taken at 2100m, Western Cordillera. Apologize for poor image of the flower.

It's a Maxillaria species of some sort.

I may have seen this species before, but I don't recall.

Ok thank you.

One black flower and one white flower coming off the same bulb?

Pitter 09-27-2010 07:43 AM

I´m not sure. The stem bases are burried in a bll of moss.

RobS 09-27-2010 01:41 PM

I'd say the black / brown flower is wilted.

SOS 09-27-2010 04:33 PM

I would too, but it doesnt look wilted and there is another one in what looks to be a tight bud stage on the right hand of the photo.

You might want to check if it might also belong to the genus Nidema.

The white flower may be Maxillaria acuminata. The dark flower is either a separate species (Max. nigrescens?)or a flower to which something has happened.
