My cat keeps knocking my orchids over or dislodges them from their pots by rubbing her face against them.

It's a frustrating plant. Only got it to bloom once in 3 years. It does have a nub of a spike starting. Wait to water or start now? There isn't any new pseudobulb growth yet.

is there any correlation with which way the light is oriented and where the new growth starts???

It seems that the new growth has been on the opposite side of where the light or morning sun...
