Happy Yorktown Day!
October 19 1781 is the day that Lord Cornwallis surrendered to General Washington ending the American Revolution. This year marks the 235th anniversary.
Yorktown Day is in the Virginia state constitution as a holiday, but it is only officially celebrated in York County. |

It still isn't a very big celebration, just a parade and a wreath laying ceremony, and the Womens Club makes homemade brunswick stew, ham biscuits and various pies.
I have bought two plants from Floradise at the orchid show, but I have not been able to get out to their greenhouse. I really need to contact them and see if they still have one of the plants I got, because it got some infection and died on me really suddenly, and I really liked it :( |
Never heard of it. Thank you for educating us.

I hadn't either but I do love to hear about our History as most don't talk about it anymore. It's good they celebrate something so long ago and I hope it will continue.
I agree Subrosa, just remember.....a fish rots from the head down. |
