v. Kultana Fragrance heavy pigmentation

Kultana Fragrance, very heavy on the purple pigments that it appears to be black.

Love it but I don't think its a KF. Its not quite right. It looks very muck like the V. tessellata 'Blue' x 'Black' I've seen. Spike habit isn't correct from what I've seen also.
I'd have it really quick but as V. tessellata. |

He sourced all of them directly from Kultana Orchids. I would probably expect Kultana to be correct with this one. I also found he had tessellata blue x black out in bloom, when compared they really are quite distinguishable. I also found this http://www.cloudsorchids.com/doctor/black.jpg and also this (look for black vanda flowers) Diagnosing culture problems - Blooming issues Also possible that Kultana used a blue/black variant of tessellata instad of the standard as one of the primaries when they crossed with fuchs fuchsia to make the cross. |
In any case, the flowers sure are nice looking! Wish I could grow Vandas here, but it's not easy in northern Europe. So I really enjoy seeing other people's blooms!! :)

One of My local Orchid vendor here in Jakarta, recently stocked the same thing. The label said V. Kultana black fragrance. Smells kinda like...jasmine?...Terrible at describing scent, but smells great!
Is yours stay that small? Or can it grow to coerulea hybrids size? Thinking of buying one too |
Sorry all for not replying sooner. It is a nice fragrance. I guess it's not too dissimilar from jasmine.
|
That is fantastic! I love the color and shape of the flower. I also really like the way the entire plant looks. If I lived remotely close to you I would definitely be visiting that vendor! !!!!
