Don't do anything until the blooms fade.

I don't avoid repotting when in bloom or bud. More thinking what to do with all of those wild roots!!!! One of them nearly put my eye out. And the cat is eyeing them.

Having grown Phals for a good number of years and also repotting plants while in bloom, I can say there is no harm done to repot while a plant is in bloom. That's just a myth.
Go ahead and repot.
Make sure you have all your supplies ready and waiting. Use a pot that will fit the root mass, usually one size larger than the one it is currently in. If your using a bark mix, give it a good overnite soak to throughly wet it.
Water the plant the day before, and the day of wet the aerial roots to make them more pliable so your able to fit them into the new pot. If their long, as they appear to be, you can just wrap them around the inside of the pot so as not to damage them.
Once done set them in a slightly shader spot and don't water for about a week. This will give any roots that may have damage a chance to heal.
I generally leave newly repotted plants a 2 week stay here and then back they go to their regular spot.

Sorry, didn't see your new post.

No problem. I appreciate the comments about getting the aerials pliable. It appears there are a lot of roots in the pot too so I won't panic too badly if I snap any off but I really don't want that to happen. They are quite long! It's definitely a happy plant.

Totally happy plant:biggrin:.....but I like letting them do their thing when blooming.

Get a nice looking flatish oriental pot and repot into that. let the roots hang out of the pot. You can water the plant by misting the roots with distilled water or taking it to the shower and letting it get a bath. I love the roots all askance like that. Very Asian looking. I would mist them daily or even more. This would be a temporary solution though as the roots would eventually get shriveled. But for now it would look very kewl. You can, and it is done regularly by all sorts of deviant phal growers, cut the length of the root down to manageable sizes, let them dry out for a few days, and then stuff the plant into a shallow larger pot. If kept moist enough these roots, without cutting can be kept growing for a couple months. Bonsai growers/collectors grow cotoneaster and crab apple with roots growing all over the place. Just an interesting artistic suggestion. Not everything has to conform. Outside the pot is kewl too.

Like a bonsai pot? Hmmm....there's an interesting thought.

Careful where you place that beauty. Someone might mistake it for a fancy designer hat rack... :D

I would hate to break those lovely areal roots. Maybe gently repot, but keep those babies out. Do not try to stuff them in a pot. It could do well on a mount since the roots are loving your air.

I second this. I finaly have a phal producing massive beautiful roots. Confidentially, I am growing it more for the roots than the flowers.
