No clue, had it for 3 years and no blooms

I bought this and it sat in a typical orchid pot for three years. No flowers and no growth.

Moved to my terrarium and now I have some roots and new bulbs/leaves forming.
It is a slow grower, nothing like the phals that I have.

Any clue? I would like to move it to semi-hydro if it will do better.

Hard to say from this angle. Could be Dendrbium aggregatum (= lindleyi). If so it needs dry (bone dry) and cool spell in Nov/Dec/Jan.

That type of Dendrobium does well mounted or in clay pot, where it dries out quickly).

I think you are correct.

I bought this due to the description stating small size.

Maybe not the best fit for my terrarium.
It is very wet.

2years in a pot with no growth.
6 months in the terrarium and lots of roots and growth.

I am going to move it to semi hydro.

It's very difficult to tell what it is from the photo. Details of the plant were hard to see.

I don't think it's a Dendrobium aggregatum (lindleyi).

I think it is either an Oncidium or a Bulbophyllum.

A closeup photo of the pseudobulbs would help a great deal.

Looking at the photo again, I think I can see vertical ribs, that makes it more likely to be a Dendrobium (and neither an Oncid nor a Bulbo). I compared it to a photo I took of my own aggregatum, and I am about 60% certain of the genus ID.

Need a better photo to tell for sure (are bulbs segmented?).

There are indeed vertical ribs showing on one p-bulb, but if you look at the lower left of the pic the one bulb has a leaf in front of it which looks like part of the bulb behind it. It does give it a very Bulbo-like look. My money is on Dendrobium

look at the new growth top center

it is a cattleya

and they need more light than some other genera.

Dendrobiums have a cane
D aggregatum has only one leaf on a different shaped cane
oncidium should never look like this, but rather is plump with leaves from base, and top, and blooms from the base / side usually

it is a cattleya judging by the size, shape, style of the new growth

just my two cents, tho

rex

ps--what is the size in inches of the growth with leaves?
I'm sure that s/h would work fine -- if it is in the process of making new roots! slowly move it to more light, and it should bloom.

On caveat -- I don't grow bulbophylums, but it vaguely resembles some out of bloom sort of bulbo. Need someone who grows them to comment. <still think it is a catt>
