Wild Cypripedium Acaules in NH
Ever since I found out these orchids grow here I've been hoping to see one... Didn't think I actually would as the word is they're pretty rare, and finding info on where they grow exactly is tough. But there I was, wandering along in the woods, when I stumbled on about ten of them right alongside the trail. So cool! Anyway, here they are.
And sorry for the poor quality - all I had was my phone. I'll try to get back there with a real camera. http://www.orchidboard.com/community.../WP_000074.jpg http://www.orchidboard.com/community.../WP_000072.jpg http://www.orchidboard.com/community.../WP_000066.jpg |
Fabulous! What a great discovery!

Walking trails and finding orchids, doesn't get any better then that.

Awesome. Appearantly there are more young plants next to the flowering ones. I also love to get an impression of the habitat.

How wonderful!

Great find!!! If you do end up going back, try pollinating them. I've heard less than 5% get pollinated naturally in the wild. I believe we would all love to see more of these little gems in our woods. :)

Nice! We used to have these in my backyard growing up in Maine just along the edge of the woods.
