my collection/window gardening

Here's my orchid collection  I will be updating this post as often as I can to show you my journey with these little guys. Most of them are rescued orchids. I think they're doing okay so far. It would be nice if I can put the cymbidiums outside, but unfortunately I can't due to where I live.
Updated pic- 5/2/13 I'm out of space! :bua: New phal rescued from Lowe's! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...rden5_2_13.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1.../whitephal.jpg |
Nice! If you have somewhere outside to put the Cym, it can stay outside from after last threat of frost in spring, until first threat of frost in autumn/winter. They do need quite a bit of light, and except for "warmth tolerant" types, need a period of cool nights to initiate spikes.

Looks like you have a nice collection going! I wish you the best of luck with your rescues- it seems like they have been loving your care! :D

Just want to share what my mom is getting for mother's day :) She loves cymbidiums orchids.

I started with my windowsill back in August and I now have one of those greenhouse tents being shipped to me because I've run out of windowsills!
Nice collection by the way! |

Found this- http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...e05/tents1.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e106/ttle05/tent.jpg It's $60. I take it that you have to take all of your plants inside when winter comes right? |
That's what I plan on doing, I just set it up tonight and moved the orchids into it. It's still dipping into the 50's at night so I'm hoping they don't get too shocked.
