Kitchen window.

My whole kitchen is entirely windows for the most part.
I have grand plans for it and might update this thread. Or make a new one after I get it filled up.

Any way.
I've only got one orchid on the actual window sill.
It's a rescue (poor thing had no roots and one dehydrated leaf) phal amabilis from a dumpster.
It has since grown with tons of leaves and this is its first flowering.
It had two spikes. And would've had more had my cat not decided to chew off the last five buds.

Anyway.
Here it is.

Pretty aren't they?
Almost lost them when I forgot to water once.

Would've been much prettier if my cat hadn't eaten the final 5 buds of the long spike.
But then it would've been in the sink lol...

Great save!!! That is a nice bunch of blooms and they look beautiful. I think your orchid is thanking you for rescuing it!

It certainly is beautiful, I feel a little bit of pride every time I wash a dish.

I didn't really rescue it lol...
It was more shoved into my possession by a friend...
I suppose I did nurse it back to health.

As a fellow kitchen window gardner, I can totally relate. I love looking at mine on my shelf.

As for the cats....we who have cats also have that problem. That's why mine are in my grow curio cabinet, or on a shelf too high for the kitties to munch on!

It's just a shame this one only blooms once a year...

Curiously my cats never ever ready my house plants... ever...
This is the first time it's happened to me and I can guarantee its the last.

Dio (my cat) spent about 5 days after that hiding in shame in a corner.

I don't know if you've ever seen the guilty cat video but that's what I had for almost a week

For kicks here's how the phal came to me...
It lost those two bottom leaves a week after I took the picture.
What a difference!
