A question on spiking number 2

I have 1 Orchid that is attempting to spike I think but it os a dark color. Brown like the color of the original spike. I'll be posting in a few what I have been calling failure spikes. I'm scared that somehow some spikes well....dry up and fail. Will I still have.more chances even though a previous area failed?

Yup I have a Pink Carmen phal which is sending up a new spike while the old spikes are still green and ready to give sub-spikes great growing !

Pics of possible Spikes and what i describe as "failed spikes."

Why are they doing this?

1: the first picture is of a Phal in full bloom with 2 spikes already heavily flowered. this little third spike failed when it came as I hoped and hoped. Was this a spike that aborted? Does someone know why or how? So I can prevent it?

2:the second is a Phal who is done blooming and has been down for 2 months growing gorgeous new leaves and roots and is growing like a weed. I noticed what I believe to be a spike because the first spike bloomed with the dark brown color of this newest form shown here. I want to know what you think of this look and if the Phals are in fact, not being able to break through...what is going wrong especially when the one shown in the second photo is so HEALTHY!

3: can spikes be different colors because the one posted that was lovely and green...its in full bloom too has even lost a few blooms in its age and its spike present now is the same color as my new baby spike i showed in the original question.

Thank you all for being here. Your so very helpful!

It is not clear to me what I am supposed to be looking at in these pics? I don't see any spikes here I'm afraid.

spikes do not emerge from the "middle" like that. You may or may not get roots emerging, eventually. Looks to me that root/s started and then stalled. Happens occasionally.
