small Orchids
Hi all, Im looking for some orchids to grow in my green tree snake Terrarium (there a mostly arboreal snake & from the tropical aus rainforest)
some on the foam back wall and a few in those wooden stick boxes below. What should i be looking at? Thanks :D |
It depends on the temperature and humidity - do you have an idea of what your min/max and daily cycles are like?

Well im looking at two snakes
24 degrees C to 30 degrees C (75 degrees F to 86 degrees F) Night time temperatures should be kept around 21 degrees C (75 degrees F) humidity level around 65%. & The other one is 75 to 89 degrees F heat & 60% to 90% humidity |
Handily enough, I just stumbled across this list - things that are more on the tropical end will probably do well (many of the angraecoids and bulbophyllums).
You might also find this thread handy. I imagine there are species that share that habitat with your snakes - you should be able to find out what they are and go for a more "biotope correct" vivarium if that strikes your fancy. Not sure where Sarchochilus come from exactly, but that might be one area to look at. ---------- Post added at 04:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:11 PM ---------- See also Which Plants Should I Use In My Vivarium? Make sure the plants you like the sound of stay the size you expect, and watch out for nice small pleurothallids that will hate those high temperatures! Oh, and remember that most orchids like air movement - small fans are frequently a "must" in humid environments - you'll need to make sure the animals can't inadvertently get into them though! |
sweet thanks for that just what i was looking for! except the second link was too much reading for a simple question.
Whats a good book to buy for growing orchids? |
