My haul from the show
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8L-55Or6l6...0/orchids3.jpg
Ascocenda Princess Mikasa Blue in spike and small Oncidium Sharry Baby, I bought them at the sales stands. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VE087fawcI...00/orchids.jpg From Ecuagenera, large one is Phragmipedium pearcei; two same ones on the left are Dracula lotax - plant came apart when I unwrapped it, so I potted both parts separately; Phal mannii in the middle and Masdevallia amplexa on the right (and I just realized that I forgot to put there Catt. araguaiensis - three very small p-bulbs, nothing special). http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-u6PKEhJ7xM...0/orchids2.jpg From Ten Shin Gardens, large Vanda tessellata in vase(it has two long roots growing vertically, I managed to curl one back into vase, hope it will grow more roots); Phal violacea coerulea with bud (I think bud is starting to die, maybe due to travelling stress) and some black spot on the leaf; Phal tetraspis C1 to the left, I think there is a spike starting from the lowest leaf; Haraella retrocalla small and cute at the front - there are three spindly growths, I can't decide if they are roots or spikes; Phal lobii to the right, they said it is a blooming size. |
Wow, you really did take home a haul!! They all look great. It's nice to be able to get some out of country items without all the hassle of doing the importing isn't it! I really just have to concentrate on growing what I have, so not sure if I will go to the Edmonton show in Feb. It is way too tempting. But then again....
Enjoy your new chids. |
Looks like a great haul! Princess Mikasa is one of my favorites.

Thank you Silken and Tucker85.
I will see if Dracula and Masdie will survive - I will order some more of their kind when spring comes and we will have our show n April. If not - I still have bunch of vandas and phals in my wish list :) Tucker85, I just found out that there is Ascda Princess Mikasa White, now I would relly like to get one. |
WOW! Real nice haul! Anytime you can add 12 new healthy Chids to your collection it makes for a great day. Good Luck with all of them.

Lovely haul! That lobbii is def blooming sized, as I have a smaller one with a spike.
|
It's a great haul. My dracula lotax came apart AND lost half of its leaves (Ecuagenera, Calgary show), but seems to bounce back now. Your phal. lobbii looks great. I got mine from Cloud's, it's smaller and has a small spike. I love the way you grow the asco. in a vase. How does that work for you in the winter?
|
I am very happy for you ! You have two healthy vandacious and one is in spike(no worries...as long as you moisten the roots often and put it in bright diffussed light and warm it...it will revive. I water vandas in a vase twice a day (before I go to work and when I arrive home)

What a nice haul!! Feels like Christmas to get that many orchids I bet.
Phal lobbii looks to be blooming size, I haev the closely related Phal parishii and it's pretty much that size. I think lobbii is also a spring bloomer. I'm jealous about the C1, I really really am dying to have one! If you post a closer pic of the haraella I bet we can tell you what those stems are. |
