Bulldog Paph, first rebloom
I bought this Bulldog Paph in Feb 2009. It was in flower with a single flower at the time, but once the flower dropped it's just been leaves ever since... with 4 new fans slowly slowly maturing.
Then in August this year I noticed a thickening at the base of two of the fans, and by early September I was certain that buds were developing. :cheer: The fastest growing bud/spike turned out to be two buds on one spike ... didn't know these could do that so was really plesently suprised at that. Anyway the first flower has now opened. You can see the second bud sitting right beside it and somewhat pushing it sideways (I've had to adjust the position slightly so it wasn't completely pushing it sideways). There is then a third bud on a second spike at the back of the plant. I actually took these pictures on Saturday and since then the second bud has started to open up. I will try and get more pics once both are open. http://lh3.ggpht.com/_o4OXVkcS2VU/TL...20%2820%29.JPG http://lh4.ggpht.com/_o4OXVkcS2VU/TL...20%2827%29.JPG http://lh5.ggpht.com/_o4OXVkcS2VU/TL...20%2829%29.JPG http://lh3.ggpht.com/_o4OXVkcS2VU/TM...20%2837%29.JPG |

Way to go, Rosie. You should be proud. Your bull dog looks very healthy and I love the bloom. Excellent job!
|
Rosie that looks just "AWESOME" welcome to the world of Paphs. You sure did a great job with that one and thanks for sharing it with us...... Jim.

Very nice, what's the name?
|
Nice one! You did a wonderful job growing and I look forward to more pictures.

Thanks everyone
Sorry Bolero, I don't have a name. It was one of my first orchids before I was interested in names. I looked up the website of the nursary at the time but unfortunately don't have a note of it now. I remember they just said they grew and hybridized American Paphs. All the pics shows ones this colour, but varying shapes in the flowers. I particulaly liked this one because the pouch is taller/more elongated than in some of similar style. |
Wow! Rosie, that's beautiful! The colours are fantastic - Congrats!

Rosie, is the vendor in the UK or elsewhere like Hawaii? I know both Lehua and Kalapana specialize in these Bulldog paphs. If it came from Lehua, Graham might be able to help with a name.

Well done, Rosie. I love these guys.
