dolmite fertilizer
hello, is here someone who has expierience with dolomite fertilizer especcialy on stanhopea?? i read about it in the following site,
this is the link to it: Stanhopea thanx and greets from holland, jesse tukkers:) |
While I don't use it personally, many growers use it not as fertilizer, but rather as a way to get the correct pH in the media. I don't know much more about it, so hopefully someone will jump in. You might also want to post this in the 'advanced' section. I've been thinking about using this stuff for a while too so I'm curious to hear more about it as well.

I don't know about using dolomite fertilizers on Stanhopeas. From what I've seen so far, they don't appear to grow on limestone cliffs. However, a little bit of leaf litter does land on them occasionally. Leaf litter does provide a little bit of calcium and magnesium when they start breaking down. This is because the cell walls of plants have a high concentration of calcium and magnesium.
Paphiopedilums are more understandable because many of them actually do grow on limestone cliffs with a little bit of moss and a little bit of leaf litter. Dolomite consists of mostly calcium and magnesium. |
