I don't know about using dolomite fertilizers on Stanhopeas. From what I've seen so far, they don't appear to grow on limestone cliffs. However, a little bit of leaf litter does land on them occasionally. Leaf litter does provide a little bit of calcium and magnesium when they start breaking down. This is because the cell walls of plants have a high concentration of calcium and magnesium.
Paphiopedilums are more understandable because many of them actually do grow on limestone cliffs with a little bit of moss and a little bit of leaf litter.
Dolomite consists of mostly calcium and magnesium.
