Look what you people have done to me...

OK, well maybe it's not all your fault, but this place is EVIL!!!! ;)
So I went to one of my favorite gardening centers to look at some new house plants that aren't orchids. You know, those other green, leafy things that normal people have in their houses. We needed to replace a nasty fern that just isn't doing well in our front room. Ferns are even more touchy and harder to keep than orchids. That is here in this high desert environment. Anyhow, to get to the other house plants I had to walk past the orchid display.

And that's when I saw it and smelled it. A very tiny (2" pot) Neostylis Lou Sneary Bluebird. The wonderful and fairly small flowers are just way too cool. And the sweet smell they put off!!! Wow!

So anyway, I was hooked. That's now a total of 6 orchids for me.:blushing::biggrin:

On to the pictures!!!!!

I can smell them right now just looking at those pictures!

I'm in trouble...

 I can remember a year or so ago when I had 6 orchids.......now you need to put a 7 in front of the 6! :help:muahaha:

Your Neostylis is beautiful! I love the color! I haven't succumbed to the Neos yet. I'm sure when I'm staring one in the face I won't be able to resist!

If you need any additional enabling just let us know!

Yeah, I wish I had done a little research on this one first. Oh well, what's an addict to do?

WhiteRabbit 03-29-2009 11:44 PM

LOL
the word is 'enablers' ;)
and I know what you mean = my orchid collection has exploded in the short time I have been on the board lol

love that neostylis! awesome blue on it!
I can't believe you found one in a garden center!
no place near me sells anything but phals sometimes dens maybe some oncidiums.

my neostylis is in spike now - I hope the color is as nice as yours!

awesome find!

Tagawa Gardens is no ordinary GC. It's actually one huge green house. 160,000sq/ft! They have a water wall (evaprotive cooling) that is 60 ft long! Their house plant section is off the hook. And right next door to that is the rose section. My other love. They are getting ready for their annual Wine and Roses weekend. Too much fun!

Look here: Tagawa Gardens, One of Colorado's Largest Garden Centers : About Us

Their orchid section is actually quite nice. They even had a section full of 1/2 price orchids. I probably should have gotten one of those today.

I'm definitely getting one of these. I've come close a few times but always back off...still not sure if it'll work with my conditions.

Beautiful choice!

Chas, there should be a sign on the first page, after you enter the site, "Enter at your own Risk" It can get very dangerous here if you're not forewarned.

That little beauty is just too cute! Just think, only six orchids to repot. Nope. I can't imagine it.

ChasWG 03-30-2009 12:41 AM

Thanks for all the "help" folks...

I think my wife said it best today, "I think I'm going to cut you off from orchids." What do you think that means???

I think though at this point I have my hands full. Between the new addition, the Brassavola cordata and the Dendrobium Norma Jackson Pink Sunshine I have my hands full. Not to mention the Phals...

Awww, come on now... What would be the fun in planning to buy another 'chid? LOL ;)

It surely is beautiful and quite stunning... I would love to smell the scent... I am still drooling daily over a rather large phal at the florist shop next door to where I work, but I just can't give in to paying what they want for it. I'm going to guilt the guy who runs the shop into giving it to me!!! ROTFL... We'll see how well that works...

I tell him everyday he's not going to sell it and he knows he's going to kill it, so he might as well let me take it home... :)
