Question on age

I was just wondering when someone says Near Blooming or Blooming size about what is the approximate age of the plant in general.

Blooming and Near Blooming are descriptions of the size and maturity of the plant.

Blooming Size means the plant will flower next bloom season. It's large/mature enough. Divisions are always mature enough, hence, blooming size.

Near blooming means they need about 1-2 years before they're large/mature enough to spike, bud, flower.

That's a great question. I'm often puzzled when I purchase a rather large Cattleyea that has already bloomed (you can see the old cut spikes) and you know it's blooming size, but the thing won't bloom or even show signs of blooming for the whole blooming cycle that is the normal time for them. So I say they should change the initials to NB (near blooming), B (blooming), and TSTB size. (to stubborn to bloom). Sorry, I'm a little frustrated at a couple of Catts in a 6 to 7 inch pot taking up the room of 4 or 5 smaller catts and refusing to bloom.
Whew! just had to get that out of my system!

Bloom time for some catts can be as long as 7 years .. Knowing the lineage helps to determine when it's bloom time may occur

Sandy's definitions are the standard ones, but, boy, do I know what Kiki is so frustrated about!!! Been there, done that, A LOT!
