Cattleytonia Jamaica Red
How well do the Ctna. grow mounted on a piece of wood or any of the Cats for that matter?:scratchhead:
|
If you can provide good humidity you should have no problem. Try it and find out...then let us know how you make out.
|
Thanks. In Louisiana we have high humidity so that should not be a problem, along with daily misting or humidifier. I'll keep all up to date and take some pictures. It has not come in yet...hopefully soon. I plan on including some other chids on the same vine.

RE
In my viv ctna:s are about the only catts that really grow well. Jamaica red has really strong root, and why not flowers ;) Not as many flowers I would like to see, but it's a start

You shouldn't have a problem mounting that orchid. It should remain tightly growing where the rhyzome doesn't extend so far out but it still grows.

Wow!! Thats a nice one!!! Jussi K, you say you keep it in your vivarium! I want one!!!

Broughtonia sanguinea grows very well on a wood mount. It is native to the Carribean area and is a twig epiphyte that grows in strong light, lots of water and warm temperatures.
To answer the other question, many of the cattleya alliance will do well mounted. The problem is that a lot of them get quite large, and you would need a lot of space to do it that way. |
