Info on Bulbophyllum sumatera??

I'm considering ordering something labeled as Bulbo. sumatera from Hausermann's (how could one pass up the sale? :dunno: ) But I can't find any Bulbo. or Cirrho. with that name. Here it is on Hausermann's site:
Bulbophyllum sumatera (Miniature): Orchids By Hausermann

Not the best photo to work off of, but perhaps someone with more Bulbo/Cirrho expertise has an idea? Would really like to see if I could find some species specific info before purchasing. (Well, honestly, I will probably purchase anyway...after all, did someone say sale?)

Many thanks :bowing

well, greenberg i'm no expert but i think its miss-labeled. i took a look at IOSPE and there is only bulbophyllum sumatranum and it looks nothing like it(but its beautiful!) that said i still think you'll love your BULB. :goodluck:

Yeah, it's got to be mislabeled. I was hoping someone might be able to get me close to IDing from the photo, or if that name was syn. for another. But, yeah, nothing in IOSPE or that German "Bulbos from A to Z" site (:: Bulbophyllum von A bis Z | Bulbophyllum from A to Z | Orchideen Bilder | Orchid pictures ::.

If you do find info, let me know! I have one from sunsetvalley orchids and i don't really know what to do. i mounted it because of how short the roots tend to grow.

Abby...Do you have the one I'm referring to, or the one in the IOSPE link?

The one from Hausermann's is very different from B. sumatranum. More of a Cirrhopetalum.

Let me check.... it hasn't bloomed yet but let me see if i can see any similarities.

i have the sumatrana "oh baby"
Sunset Valley Orchids - Grower and hybridizer of quality orchids, Vista CA

sheesh.... sorry i didn't help, but caused more confusion!

Mine looks more like the IOPSE link

To Abby, When a Bulbophyllum shows very short roots it is because it is not wet enough. Bulbophyllums like it wet, wet, wet. There is nothing wrong with mounting it but there should be lots of mositure-retaining material at the roots. In Arizona I'd say water it every morning and again on most afternoons. Try watering it when you start watering and then hit it a second time before you finish watering. That avoids water running off a dry surface.

Abby...is totally ok! After all, this Bulbo's name is the source of all the confusion!
