Something of an answer

Well, I finally received this guy today, and the tag provides a bit of a clue to what this Bulbo is. Not an I.D. however.

The tag gives Bulbophyllum Sumatera 'Aceh'. At first I thought, "maybe it's NOT a species...maybe it's a hybrid!" But no luck from the RHS register.

It occurred to me that this labeling may just be an indicator that this particular Bulbo comes from the Aceh province of Sumatra.

Anywho...still a noid, but at least (I think) something of an explanation for its label.

No matter. It is an extremely healthy little guy. Perhaps once it blooms for me, some kind of ID may be possible.

...and, upon repotting this morning, it's possible I saw a spike developing! Definitely still too early to tell on this one. So, nubbin it is. But I'd love for it to bloom, with the possibility of a better chance of I.D. Will keep ya updated.

Bulbophyllum sumatera (Miniature): Orchids By Hausermann

Not the best photo to work off of, but perhaps someone with more Bulbo/Cirrho expertise has an idea? Would really like to see if I could find some species specific info before purchasing. (Well, honestly, I will probably purchase anyway...after all, did someone say sale?)

Many thanks :bowing

There is a website that lists ?all recognised plant names and there are no hits for either a Bulbophyllum or Cirrhopetalum with the specific name of "sumatera". the website is :
The International Plant Names Index - home page
Kew also have a monocotyledon list of names but I have never been to their website. there is also a ?Brazilian website that lists all recognised Bulbophyllum/Cirrhopetalum names but you would have to do a Google search for this latter list. I know that I downloaded it but and made a hardcopy of it but don't ask me where I have put it.
