Monthly Status Reports - June 2008

I'll start this month. It's very colorful on my grow rack.

In Bloom:

Epi. Pacific Girl x Pacific Embers - Looks like it’s starting a new bract. Sending up a new growth too.
Den. Frosty Dawn –11 flowers open. Still look brand new!
P. NOID White Magenta Lip – Dropped all but one flower. I think it needs repotting.
P. NOID Birthday White – 13 flowers open. Still going strong.
Paph. lemianum Second bud dropped third opened, fourth on the way.
Den. NOID nobile – 3 flowers on their way out
Pot. Hawaiian Prominence ‘Carmela’ – Just about finished, still looks pretty good though.
Dtps. Malibu Merlot – 8 flowers open, 2 to go. It’s phenomenal
Milt. NOID – 2 beautiful red flowers with white waterfall. First rebloom for me. Starting to fade.
Paph. sukhakulii – Purchased in early April in bloom. Looks exactly like it did the day I bought it. Amazing!
Phal. Brother Sara Gold – Purchased early April in bloom. It’s continuing to develop new buds and bloom
Tolu. Genting ‘Volcano’ – Purchased early April in bloom. Repotted in 2” net pot with charcoal for medium 6/08.
Phal. equestris - growing 2 Keikis. New spike is setting buds. Old spike has one new flower open next to the new Keiki.
Den. Paskal Kuning ‘Hawaii’ – 6 nice green/yellow flowers with red lips and streaking.
Paph. Magic Lantern – First bud opened nicely. Color is a bit light, but form is good. Second bud blasted.
Phrag. Jason Fisher – Beautiful deep red color. Form needs improvement.
Den. atroviolaceum – Purchase 5/08 from H&R. Has 2 flowers. Is sending up 4 new growths of various sizes. One newly matured has a spike started.

In Spike:

P. bellina – growing 2 new spikes. Existing spike is making a move to bud I think
C. Chocolate Drop ‘Volcano Queen’ - new growth has a sheath!
Dtps. Kenneth Schubert ‘Purple Martin’ – Tiny new spike peeking out
Aerangis luteo-alba rhodostica growing another new leaf & new roots. Repotted into a slat basket with coco 4/6/08. New spike started 6/1. :bananaslide:

Nice list, Ross!

I can't wait to see those three spikes blooming on your Neofinetia falcate Benisuzume! Mine doesn't seem to be doing anything at all :bua:

What lighting is yours getting?

Mine are in a south-facing window which gets nearly full sun. The glass has low-e tinting however. Right now the sun isn't shining :( so the light is approx 700 FCs. When the sun shines outside, they get "dappled" sun on the leaves. This one isn't my designated project plant - that one is busy with roots and new growths, but notta on the spike. The third one is about the same as the project one but slower. Hope this helps. Pictures to follow (if they don't blast).

Update! The Aerangis citrata is in spike again (second time) as is the Aerangis luteo-alba var. rhodosticta (project plant). Many more changes as well. I plan to post pics as the plants come into blossom.

Here are a couple new ones that have bloomed in the last week. I think I've posted everything else that is in bloom at the moment, except a little masdie that still has a couple buds left to open. I'll get those up soon.

First pic is Cochleanthes Amazing. This is the 4th flower in the last 6 months. It currently has 3 Mature growths, 2 young growths and the last flower was pollinated so its also carrying a large seed pot. I think you can see it in the back ground. This little fella is AMAZING!

The next one is a little Max. variabilis. Its the burgandy variety. Pretty cute. Its had several blooms on it but with all the camera issues this is the first one that Ive gotten a pic of.

My last pic is one of my project Neos. Amami Island. Not blooming yet but I couldn't resist snapping a couple pics of the buds. There are about 20 on the plant right now over 3 spikes. Im really excited about it! There is also a ton of stuff spiking or in bud at the moment. Hope the camera holds up!

Hope it does too! Nice update.

OOPS! Forgot this little fella. He was dangling off the back porch and almost got left out. Its Barkeria spectabilis. Its a division of a friends plant. I can't take credit for the blooms. We were in her greenhouse a few weeks ago and she has a large speciman plant of this. When she reached for something this little guy fell off the mother plant right into my lap. Without missing a beat she looked down and goes 'oh yeah, and thats for you'

Terri, How beautiful! How about an overall picture of your grow rack? Bet that looks spectacular.
Ross, nice list....where's the pics??? :blushing:
Cowboy, I love the Max. I have the yellow one with only a single bloom on it so far.
Guess I need to take inventory too. Thanks all for sharing! :)
