Cattleya trianaei first bloom!
Here is the first bloom on this Cattleya trianaei. The shape is a little wonky but maybe it will improve in future blooms. I don't detect a fragrance yet... maybe it will kick in in a few days.
As always, it was difficult capturing the red properly. It always looks odd in photos... https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...4e02ed2f_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...779c2d3c_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...86252668_c.jpg |
That's pretty cool! I really like those colors.

Looks excellent Jeff! If you're up to it ----- see what happens if you ever so carefully, and ever so gently ------ very gently -- unroll the upper (dorsal) sepal, and then see if you can reverse the geometry of the sepal from currently 'convex' shape to a concave shape. Once it flips, it may stand upright.

that is a beaut!

Beautiful, good growing!:)

Love the splash petal pattern. Pelorics can have petal distortion when the effect is strong, but doesn't look like a problem here, very gentle.

Nicely done, Jeff. A real beaut!

That is a beauty Jeff! How large is the clay pot it sits in? Can I ask how often you water and fertilize it? I have a seedling of the same that I would like to raise as well as you did 😄.

Thanks everyone for the kind words!
