Good Morning!

I am drinking a delicious cup of French-pressed coffee. . .Mexican & Costa Rican blend, in celebration of this morning's new bloom!

This may well be one of my fave top ten orchids. I just received it from Andy's Orchids.

I LOVE it!

Ross 02-23-2008 11:10 AM

I've been considering that one myself. Sure looks interesting.

I'll try to take better photos today so you can see the full monty. It's just a gorgeous miniature.

It's on a thick, heavy "branch". . .no idea what type of wood but it feels like some sort of hard wood. Might have to email Harry.

Ross, I hope you'll buy one! Keep in mind that Andy's sent me a huge box of goodies and it was VERY well packed and had a little heat pack. . .all arrived in perfect condition.

What a fascinating yet bizarre little orchid ..
I love the fringe
Nice one Gwen

Andy uses a lot of local Manzanita. I know more than half the mounts I've gotten from him, especially the larger ones, are Manzanita.

I have a long list (6 plants) so far that are definite maybe's for spring. I'm going to a big show tomorrow and may have filled some of the empty voids when I get back. But it is still on my list.

gmdiaz 02-23-2008 11:42 AM

Ross, What are the "six" on your list?

You know, I've gotta know. lol

Thanks! I bet it is manzanita!!

I'll PM you. I don't want to jack this thread. Check PM in a few.

How cute!

vmax3000 03-17-2008 04:21 PM

Kudos! I have loved mine. If you get your nose up on the blossom, it smells like cut grass and stink bug all rolled into one. :twocents: Andy's Orchids is one of my favs and I would want one of almost everything he sold...if only it wouldn't lead to divorces:roll: !

Gwen, I have only seen this on photographs and would love finding one here. Never heard of any nursery selling it in Brazil. Maybe that's because it is a cool grower. Is it?

vmax3000 03-17-2008 09:56 PM

Mauro,
This little pleuro is from Mexico and has done really well for me in Waco, Texas....where it gets really, painfully hot for a couple of months during our summer. Mine has bloomed continuously since early fall. Good luck finding it. I think it's worth adding to a collection, but then, I like the odd little critters.;)

It's a cool to intermediate grower. . .I bought mine at Andy's Orchids online.

Here's a link to his site. . .for more info.

Sure hope you can locate one. . .this is one of my favorites!

Gwen, Great little plant! I, too, have had my eye on that one for some time. It will come and live with me sometime soon! Great photos! They have me
