Folks . . . I am sorry but now that I think about it I think it was THIS orchid he said was so rare!

However, I would like both names if I could get them. Us photographers always like titles on our photos . . .!!!

Thanks again
Mike

First one - not an orchid.

Second one, an orchid, but no idea.

Hi, it's a stapeliad! Frerea indica | Plants & Fungi At Kew

Both flowers are very nifty!

The first appears to be some member of the Family Apocynaceae subfamily Asclepiadaceae (to which belongs such common plants as milkweeds).

The second is most definitely an orchid. The fuzzies make me think some sort of Bulbophyllum. The flowers shape and presentation, though reminds me of some of the Australian Dendrobiums. I'll be very interested to hear what that plant is. Would love to have one myself.

the second one is a bulbophyllum for sure !
bulbophyllums are not native to mexico

Looks cool

Gravelsack 02-01-2015 04:56 PM

The second one looks to be Bulbophyllum lindleyanum. :)

sbrofio 02-01-2015 04:58 PM

Agree with Gravelsack: Bulbophyllum lindleyanum

Orchid Whisperer 02-01-2015 05:19 PM

Good call Gravelsack!

BTW, there are a few Bulbophyllum from Mexico and Caribbean / Americas. This just isn't one of them.

???? Just wondering........How does he know it's rare if he doesn't know what it is ???

I don't know what it is so I won't hazard a guess.
