I know it's early days yet but I'm SO EXCITED!

I take absolutely no credit for this other than keeping it alive. It arrived in bud. From what I hear this might be the only time I get to see these flowers!

You need a little more confidence in yourself:). Once you get a multi to blooming size I find they become easier.

I certainly hope I get to see this some day. Mine has 3 fans and is just so slow at progressing.

Suzanne17 08-13-2014 10:28 AM

I'm so impatient. I know I spent too much on this but a blooming plant was hard to resist. And actually- it was an auction and I paid ~$70...the next one like this went for ~$150 though it's been relisted so who knows that happened there.

Daethen 08-13-2014 10:38 AM

I originally purchased a single fan plant that crown rotted almost immediately. I got it on ebay and figured I wasted that money. I found the seller again a couple months later and contacted him to tell him what happened. I didn't ask for a replacement because I figured it would be a lost cause. He got back to me and ended up offering to replace it for just shipping cost. And, he sent me a 2 fan replacement! It is now looking a bit yellow/green so I think I have it in a bit too much light.

Suzanne17 08-13-2014 01:42 PM

I remember reading about that on the slipper orchid board, I think! Nice to get a replacement so far out. I have a few paphs that I am anxious about but it's because they are so slow....I need to remember that's just how they are!

Oh me oh my! I can't wait to see when they're fully open. I have a Lebaudyanum mostly because I lost an auction for such a plant. Mine has 3-4 growths and I've been waiting and watching SOOO impatiently. It's growing two new leaves I think, gosh the wait...So good job even if it came in bud for carrying it the rest of the way. And yes, have more faith in yourself and your abilities, but I know it's nerve wracking.

:D

Two blooms are open and one is getting there; one is hanging out.

nice multi-floral paph!

I am not sure what to do now that the bloom is done...all four flowers are off. Do I cut the spike?

Yep. Just snip it off and wait for new starts.

Beautiful! How long did they last total?

Oscarman 09-09-2014 11:28 AM

Very cool flowers. Oh, the influence of Paph. sanderianum - love that!

Suzanne17 09-09-2014 02:27 PM

They started opening 8/9 and all four were fully open 8/23. The last one fell 9/7. I don't know if that's short.

paph Chiu Hui Dancers

I have about 50 paph Chiu Hui Dancers, 6" pots, they are about 18 - 20 inches leaf span. They really quite easy to bloom, just use a 1/2 strength fertilizer about once a month. Several had 5-6 flowers per stem.
If anyone is interested I will be selling multiple growth plants, 6"pots, blooming size or prior bloomed for $80.00 plus actual shipping costs. Contact me if you like these twisters...
