Lc Lory Ann 'Paradise'
4 Attachment(s)
I posted this on another forum, thought I would re-post here. I can't take any credit for the flowers, other than having a little luck and a watchful eye while looking at a recent shipment of "bag babies". While I was looking over the new arrivals, I noticed this one had 2 buds on it!
Attachment 96456 A couple days later, the first bud opened - sort of at an odd angle, looking straight up (probably due to it being in a bag): Attachment 96457 Another day, second bud open, but the buds are not completely unfolded: Attachment 96458 Finally, blooms fully open (and both blooms still star-gazing): Attachment 96459 At least one of the flowers has rotated to face sideways after this. The flowers are about 3 inches (8.5 cm) across, largest dimension, on a compact plant. VERY fragrant in the morning, least fragrant (though it is still there) at night. My only complaint is that the grex Lc. Lory Ann does not seem to be in the RHS International Orchid Register, which is a pity. I could see this plant being a breeding candidate if I knew it's ancestry. |
Oops!
Mods & Admins, sorry, I accidentally double-posted this thread, can you remove the other thread (with no pictures)? Thanks |

Lovely flowers!

Lory Anne Paradise is one of my salvage seedlings. In a few years, hope mine blooms as nicely as yours did!

Often C. intermedia var. aquinii passes a semi-closed flower-shape to its progeny. So it is good that finally blooms fully opened.

Thanks to RosieC, the question over the identity is resolved. The correct name is Cattleya Llory Ann 'Paradise'.
Thanks Rosie! |
Nice 'baggy baby' find and very pretty.
