New to Orchids
Hi guys and gals
We have a fair sized collection of Dart frogs. We started building the vivariums and have become interested in the plants as much as the frogs. We have several vivs on display and well....the next step is Orchids. We have a few Bulbo's that are doing well. All of our vivs are 18 inches deep with 2 1/2 inches of ventilation. The plants are allowed to dry out before lights out. The RH is between 70-85% and the temps are around 78-80F maximum. Nightime temps are around 70F. We're looking for some recommendations for smallish Orchid species that will thrive in this environment. Thanks in advance Great forum btw :) |
:hello:waving

Welcome to OB!
The frogs are so cool looking. Love the pics. |
Welcome to Orchid Board :welcome:
Your frogs look great. I love the bright colours. Take a look in our Terrarium gardening area for idea of what can grow in tanks like yours. I'm sure we have people keeping lizards & frogs who are likely to have posted in that area. |
RE:New to Orchids
"Hi,
I am new to this forum. Glad to be here, I love nature so much and love to watch different different type of insects and creatures. The pictures of frogs are really very nice. The colour of frogs are really awesome. Thanks for sharing." |
Hello and welcome to the OB!
Your setups are amazing! Very well done! My Leptotes bicolor is very small and seems almost effortless to care for. That may be a good one for your viv's. Plus the foliage looks like thick grass blades, it could look pretty awesome in there with your frogs. I will get a picture of it later. |
Wow.
What a warm welcome :) Thanks all. :waving We found the terrarium section and have been reading and reading and reading. Of course, we're more confused than ever. haha The same thing happened when we first started with the frogs and it's expected. We are planning a trip to Cloud Orchids this weekend. They've been very helpfull in the past and are really looking forward to this. They suggested we start with Bulbo's first. We did and haven't killed any yet. Now it's time to move on to some other species and see what happens. :dance13: Hmmmm....Wondering what we'll come home with... We would love to see some pics Angela. |
