I can't wait to buy new plants:banana:

PitcherASAMD 07-31-2009 12:57 PM

YEAH for getting new orchids! :)

RosieC 07-31-2009 03:16 PM

Newbie question. Is Epidendrum porpax the same as Nanodes porpax?

Just want to know before I choose what to vote for.

harrywitmore 07-31-2009 03:53 PM

Yes and I think it's also known as Epidendrum peperomia

Royal 07-31-2009 03:58 PM

...and Epi neoporpax. :)

It's a tight race, let me know if you want me to join to break the tie. ;)

RosieC 07-31-2009 04:01 PM

Thanks Harry & Royal.

I thought pics looked very similar. These various names for the same thing just keep confusing me

Oh and it's a tight race just in my own mind

RosieC 07-31-2009 04:06 PM

Ok, I've picked.

I can buy three of them all from the same website, so who knows, if one of those three wins I may well get one or both of the others as travelling companions

Don't forget Andy's is offering a 10% discount on your complete order including your TC's. ( no discount on specials):)

RosieC 07-31-2009 04:45 PM

I'm in the UK though :(

I will be buying from one of the european vendors.

RosieC 07-31-2009 04:47 PM

Dave,

Do you know the real results so far on this poll (assuming this one has the same problem as the cool one with people voting who are not in the project).

Have any TC in mind? I really want the haraella but Andy's doesn't have it....And they don't have any of the phals I want :(

flhiker 07-31-2009 04:53 PM

Yes! all the votes are correct except for Dendrobium loddigesii , it only has 4 at this time.

Well, first off I may well get more than one of the ones suggested for this project...

Second I am really keen to try a Masdi of some sort and Großräschener Orchids which stocks 3 of the 4 in the poll has a few nice ones.

I've just warned hubby that August may see several new orchids. I'm also planning a "DORITAENOPSIS Sin-Yuan Golden Beauty" and a "PAPHIOPEDILUM Maudiae" as his aniversary gift to me

Interesting, it's not my vote you aren't counting is it? I signed up for the cool and warm plants and that just so happens to be the one I voted for. I didn't sign up for cool and yes, it was me that voted out of turn.

flhiker 07-31-2009 05:46 PM

Your good Harry. It was someone else. I posted a the list of participants under the poll.

Keltera 07-31-2009 07:39 PM

Me too, me too!

susiep 08-02-2009 12:00 PM

:waving Looks like it's going to be the Miltonia! Are all the votes in? When do we get to order?

As it stands there are
5 for Dendrobium atroviolaceum
4 for Dendrobium loddigesii
5 forEpidendrum porpax
8 for
Miltonia spectabilis

and there is 6 people who have not voted yet, so any plant still has a chance. If 1 more person (project participant) votes for the Miltonia then its over.

You will not be able to receive a 10% discount unless you order at least one of the project plants so its better to wait to order till after Andy receives the project plant names.

I'm still waiting on info from Andy so I can post the warm poll before we can order.

PitcherASAMD 08-02-2009 05:14 PM

Quick question: would oak hill be willing to give a discount for this project? Or is it just andy's? It's no big deal, just thought I'd ask!

The reason Andy's is willing to provide a discount is due a group purchase. Oak Hill would have if they could have provided enough plants in all 3 groups. By using 1 vendor you only pay 1 shipping price for all the plants including TC's. It make's it better for everyone's pocketbook. There also another reason we should get plants from one vendor is the plants are at the same stage of growth.:)

Keltera 08-02-2009 08:49 PM

i could have bought a Epidendrum porpax today for 35$

flhiker 08-03-2009 10:23 AM

WE have a winner for this poll.

:winner: Miltonia spectabilis

Please do not order plants till all polls are final

Cool, but I'm not quite sure how it can be over. I count 24 votes so far and 28 people to vote. The Miltonia is only ahead by 2 votes. Am I missing something

By the way, I'm really looking forward to trying the Miltonia since I have never had one.

The Miltonia has 9 votes (Camille emailed me with her choice). and the others have less then shown. Votes by people that are not in the project do not count. The Miltonia can't be beat.

It appears this is the only group you belong to so you can order yours anytime. :goodluck:

As far as us in the US, I'm still waiting on Andy on some warm selections. Unfortunately I just heard that is father pasted away recently and he is still dealing with that. I should hear something tomorrow according to Harry.
