Fingers crossed for me guys :crossfing

I've just ordered, from a british site, two orchids which are my hubbys wedding aniversary gift to me (he said he wanted to buy me an orchid and asked me to choose which... sssh... don't tell him I chose two ).

Anyway while I was speaking to them I asked about Miltonia spectabilis and she said they might have one or two, but they don't put them on the website unless they have over a certain number of them. She said the site owner will know when he gets back and they will ring me if they do.

So fingers crossed. :crossfing

They were in Germany I just cant recall which site it was. If I cant get around the payment and mailing issues I have to drop out as the mailing is really expensive as well about £20. I am bit broke right now as I just made an order from Easy Orchids as my hubby wanted a vanilla plantifolia and they got some in and of course it had to have TCs LOL I hope that by the time we order ill have some more cash and we can work out this issue with paying for orchids in europe.

Thanks Carrie,

Yes, I was aware it may have been a problem with other Europe sites, but because Großräschener Orchids takes PayPal I thought it would be alright. I was wrong

I really hope I can find a way to get it. It looks sooo pretty on the pics I have seen online.

I'm going to be broke after buying all these, but I'm making the most of it this month. I've been on reduced pay for quite a while now (what with the financial climate and everything) and this month my boss announced we would get full pay for August :cheer:. It's just a one off though and then we go back to reduced pay so I'm making the most of it buying an orchid or two, or three

RosieC 08-07-2009 09:35 AM

Ok, so I've managed to place an order for my project plant. Großräschener Orchids had a work-arround I could use to order from them...

so my project plant should be on it's way :cheer:

Project Orchids Arrived!

Hey All,
So while I was at work today, my wonderful fiance unpackaged the orchids. Then called to tell me that the psuedobulbs on the miltonia are yellow. The haraella looks amazing! I'm posting pics. Can anyone tell me if this is how it's suppose to look or is my plant dying?

Also, does the basket look good? Should it be repotted? I've never had a miltonia. And advice?

Thanks!
Katie

Awesome Katie, I'm not sure if they are normally yellow or not but leaf's look great. So I don't think there is a problem. Just a heads up I posted some new thread for each group for plant discussion.
http://www.orchidboard.com/community...r-project.html. Looking forward to getting mine!

Yeh! my project orchid has arrived from Andy's. I was shocked when I took it out of the box and seeing all the yellow bulbs and leaves...
I counted 9 new growths :banana::banana:

It appears to me potted/mounted in a 6 inch basket with moss. It was very dry on arrival so I watered it. So here goes and Good Luck to all in the project.

When talking to Andy the other day he mentioned that most of his plant are grown outdoors. This may be the reason why they are not as green as you are use to. I have a couple onc. that are mounted on a palm tree, they too are on the yellow side. The bulbs look plump and the leafs look good. I think they will be fine.

Dave I sure hope hanging it in the GH will be alright.. I'll keep my fingers :crossfing

It will be fine, I would put it where it can get the most light.

After seeing your pictures, I'm getting excited. Mine should be here next week.

Sorry for the panic but I saw yellow and automatically freaked! Harry gave me a call back and told me it was perfectly normal. They grow them is direct light causing the change in color. It will turn back to green if you back off the light somewhat. Good luck everyone! Happy Growing :)

Hi everyone. I just received a email from Harry at Andy's orchids, asking to remind you when you order to add in the comment box on the first page of ordering, that you belong to the orchid board project, so you don't have to send a separate email. Thanks

harrywitmore 08-11-2009 01:31 PM

For some reason when I ordered I did not see a comment box. Can't believe I missed it since I was looking for it. Oh well, I sent and email and Harry took care of it. They are great people!

orchidbingo 08-11-2009 01:33 PM

I never found a comment box either but I e-mailed Harry and he took care of it.

I got a little clarification, it's called the special delivery instruction box. And it's located in the on the first page of the ordering process. Sorry for any confusion.

Beverly 08-11-2009 02:46 PM

Double OOOPs then, I just sent them an email :blushing:

No problem, just as long has he knows your in the project.

gixrj18 08-18-2009 07:53 PM

Yellow is just from being in high light. That should give you a pretty good clue as to how much light it likes. Sorry I missed the poll, I've been extremely busy working long hours. Am I still in the project? Anything I need to tell Andy when I order?

Just write in the special delivery instruction box that you are in the OB Project.

Guys, I not to purchase the project plants. Two weeks ago my almost 83 old Dad got an major surgery. A week later he needed emergency surgery and from last Friday he is on the ICU.
Doesn't look very well. He had a peritonitis and an obstructed colon caused by the firrst surgery and during his last surgery last Monday he vomitted, which caused a pneumonia.
Four surgery's in ten days caused him to be very confused, hallucinating and agitated.

I can't concentrate on plants, don't feel exited to get me some new ones etc, as my heart is 24/7 with my Dad.

We could use some positive vibes and prayers ;)

Nicole
