January Blooms

Several of my babies are in the process of producing spikes and buds, but these guys are the ones that have done their best to please me this month. A few of them suffered some damage to their developing buds during a brief one night cold spell in November. Unfortunately I was unable to bring them in from 32 degree temperatures that night and as a result they lost a few blooms.

Thank you. The Dend. is a Noid and was a Mother's Day gift from my son last year. This was it's first bloom while in my care. Unfortunately this one suffered some cold damage and lost 5 blooms.:(

Oh, you just know me, "the noid queen", too well. Actually, a couple of them do have names. One of them is a Onc. Sharry Baby 'sweet fragrance' and the last one is a Rhyncostylis gigantea 'Red'.;)

NO ONE gets away with on here - God knows I've tried

Thanks Sugar :D

Junebug your blooms are beautiful and I couldn't tell which one suffered the cold temp. I'm Green with envy.

Thank you Sheridan. I hope you're doing well. Orchid culture is no replacement for your loss, but it's very therapeutic. I deliberately bought 5 bare root baggy orchids shortly after the death of my daughter. I could have purchased healthy mature specimens, but instead chose some that needed extra attention. After that I began investing in "rescue plants". Now I have quite the collection of Noids and am more fond of them than the ones with names because they helped me to survive my loss.;)

Hey Lady, you have a greenhouse and that makes me a little green. When it gets cold out, like tonight, I have to bring all the plants inside. The lizards and frogs hitch a ride and come indoors too. It's rather entertaining to watch my hubby running scared from the harmless little reptiles and amphibians.

Thank you. Everyone is snug and warm except for my Trichoglottis Brachiata. She's mounted on the trunk of a tall palm tree and has several layers of blankets wrapped around her.

Hey, where are you located in Central Florida? We might be neighbors.:)

Oooooh, Junebug, you've done a beautiful job with all of these. A couple of lost buds compared to all these blooms...eh! All of these are just beautiful.

Enjoy and great growing!

Thank you Sandy. I'm most proud of the 3 plants on the bottom row. They've all had a history of being stubborn when it comes to blooming and it makes me relieved and happy to see them all blooming at the same time.

Thanks Junebug it does help keep my mind occupied during the day. I love my little GH which I have named the Little Orchid Hut. They sure like it out there but I am always checking the temp in there just to be sure. Where is spring it can't come soon enough for me.
I guess I am a softy when it comes to orchids in need as well. I have lots of them and they are rewarding me with new growth and some blooms.

Darn...was really hoping for a name on the 7th one, the lighter pink vanda. So pretty! They are all gorgeous though, names or not!

Thank you Jenn.

This is probably either a V. TMA or a V. Josephine Van brero. OB members LI Jane and Leisurely have posted photos similar to mine. What's even more confusing is Leisurely's TMA looks almost exactly like LI Jane's JVB and LI Jane's JVB looks exactly like mine.

I absolutely love this plant regardless of her name, but it would still be nice to know.;)
