Newest acquisitions. Oh my! It was a buying frenzy.
Two noid paphs, Ambonesis x Gigantea, Cornu cervi, Violacea, Ambonesis.
I am weak, so very weak in the face of beautiful orchids.
I brought my sister (who I turned on to orchids) and my 90-yr-old Mom (who doesn't understand my obsession with 'those plants with the ugly leaves', but who ended up buying one for herself anyway). My sister snagged the loveliest Ambonesis right out from under me. Dang! Who knew when I got her started she'd be my competition.

Oops! Nursery misspelled so I did too…Amboinensis.
---------- Post added at 11:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:01 PM ----------
Noone corrected the nursery's description or me [were you all being super-polite? ], but looking up Bellina vs. Violacea, now I'm wondering if what I have is actually a Bellina. How do you tell the difference?

At one point many years ago the two species were in fact considered the same, with bellina being a described variety of violacea. Glossing over the fact that this has created a huge mess (I or someone else can explain if you're interested in the long story), I think it's safe to say that you have a bellina.
Also, the amboinensis x gigantea cross you bought is registered as David Lim.

Thanks for the registered name of the amboinensis x gigantic, and also confirming my suspicions about the bellina. And yes, if you wanted to give the long story or send me to a site to read up, I'm happy to learn. I only found some confusing remarks about telling the difference between the two by the leaves (which still left me wondering), but the bloom on my new plant resembles more of the bellina photos I found.
