Default Ecuagenera

Does anyone have any experience with this company from Equador? They have a big selection of species and I've been drooling over them for weeks but haven't worked up the nerve to email them. The website doesn't say if they are strictly a wholesaler or not. I suppose I could just try to place an order and see if they ask me for a code . Ive seen a lot of plants here with they're companys tags on but never heard of anyone ordering directly from them. Here is a link to the site....... www.ecuagenera.com I figured if anyone would know it would be the folks on here

Hey cowboy, I have not ordered any orchids from them but they have been at local shows here. They do have some really cool orchids, I have bought a few mini's from them.

I have seen them at local shows and have heard of others ordering from them, or buying from them when in their country. I think they sell to the general public, but most of us don't due to shipping charges, or phytosanitary certificates, etc.... etc....
I think someone may have done a group order from them. As for me, I don't even bother looking at the catalogue because that could get me into trouble and end up spending money I don't have.

They have great plants...but unless you're willing to pay BIG $$$ for shipping and permits, you shouldn't try to order online. Instead, check their US show schedule. Most overseas vendors will take your order online with the understanding that you will either pick up the plant at a show they're attending in your area OR some will mail it to you from their show location if it's not accessible to you.

I just did this with a vendor in Australia...he brought a Den for me to the Santa Barbara show, which I didn't attend and then he mailed it to me from there.

Contact them to see if they will do that for you.

If you're into species and/or minis, you should check out www.duncansflora.com ...he's right here in Florida and has the best stuff!!! Just email him with any questions you have. Duncan is one of the best growers I've ever met.

Our society has placed large orders a few times from Ecuagenera when a representative has come as a visiting speaker and shipped the plants at the same time. I believe that all the results were very good -- if not, we wouldn't have placed additional orders.

I just bought from them at the Santa Barbara show and am please with the plants. They do have a staggering selection of hard to find species.

As many have said it might be best to buy from them at an orchid show. Also, I believe that way they work is a huge shipment of orchids come in then the vendor sells them at several shows in succession, what I'm driving at is that it is best to hit them at the first show of the "tour". If I'm wrong someone please correct me.
