Default Orchids Of Los Osos

I want to be fair here but I will make a few comments now.

Arrived in questionable condition poorly packaged to start with.

Max Tenuifolia is large and full in 3" pot. Had previously bloomed and an all around nice plant..

Ordered 3 paphs, 2 in bud or spike. The 2 plants had previously budded and spikes were cut down. Thats fine plants don't always cooperate with advertising and I can accept that fact with the plants in good condition with new growths and more than ample roots.

The 3rd is a virgin and had never spiked. In fact it had little roots and was very rotten fallen out of the pot.

these are whats left of the roots and the mix is like MUD the bark is so degraded

some kind of freakish white mold all over the base of the root. Its just a rotten azzed paph plain and simple..Am I being fair?

So far the phone has gone unanswered and my emails have not been answered by the vendor either.

All due respect as I know its a business and they might be busy but I must give them a chance to replace this plant and make good. I felt an email was needed to them as to the condition of this plant and they might even appreciate the heads up on the pot rot if they didnt know they were this bad.

Thanks to all of you at the OB I check the roots on everything I get when it gets home to check just for stuff like this. Some of us the fact just being Noobs we arent always responsible for the deaths of the plants and this is exactly why. This paph is Death in a Pot just waiting to happen. And if I had not known any better in 3 to 4 weeks I would have blamed myself again for ruining a seemingly nice plant.

We wait now to see how this ends..I am not happy so far and you see exactly why

Orchid vendors rule #1...don't be sending people crap like this who order stuff online thinking you aren't going to get it tossed right back in your face..

Orchid vendors rule #2..Answer your phone and your emails..Just a word goes a long way to soothing a customer and everyone can he happy...

Yikes. That is awful. In the past, they were a pretty good nursery. Hope it works out for you.

Oh dear. I ordered from them as a Noob too and received a Bllra. and a Sed. covered in scale and mealies. I was smart enough to quarantine them both. The Sedirea went on to recover and bloom and I was able to eliminate the mealies. The Bllra, however, finally went to the compost heap this spring. I have had the plant for at least 3 years and no matter what remedy I tried I never was able to eliminate the scale.

I did call and leave a message and sent an email and NEVER received a response to either one. Sorry Rocket, I just don't think you're going to hear from them. If you paid with a credit card dispute the charge. That might at least get their attention. Good luck buddy.

good luck! i only ordered from them for the project, and that one looked fine, great actually. but i will be sure not to order with them in the future.

by the way, i had to call them, and it took me a few tries, and one time, there was nobody who spoke english there. but once i got a hold of them, this guy was very nice, he even gave me the owners cell phone number, so i could directly contact him. i dont have the number anymore, sorry. but good luck, i hope everything works out.

ps. ive seen grocery store phals on the death-rack, and they had more roots than that. im feelin for ya buddy

I think a bad plant can happen to everyone. Let's see how they deal with it before making harsh judgments.

No one is without sin, and plants are not made of plastic and machine produced.

I wasn't exagerating when I say my plants were covered. Seriously there is no way it could have been missed when they were boxed up.

Stuff happens. Orchids are perishable goods. Even the best orchid vendors have mishaps sometimes. But what makes them the best is correction of their mistakes and customer service. I hope you get your plant replaced soon. I have not bought from them yet but I follow your story to see how it turns out. I am very cautious about vendors with bad reviews.
